Bro. Jehangir Bejonji Mistry was born in June 1877, was an insurance agent and he resided Minoo Mansion, Bombay. He was initiated on January 17,1910, passed on March 28,1910 and raised on August 22,1910. He was a member of Lodge Brotherhood No.3835 EC, Lodge Cornwallis No.5062 EC, Lodge Highgate No.1366 EC and Lodge Cyrus No.1359 EC. He was D of C of the lodge till March 19,1940 for a total of five months. He left because of poor health. He was called to the Grand Lodge Above on December 7,1945.
Bro. Dr. Phoroze Sorabji Dastur. Dr. Dastur was 35 years old when he became a mason. At that time he was the assistant professor of Anatomy, Grant Medical College, Bombay. He lived at Jer Mansion, Turner Road, Bandra, Bombay. He was initiated on June 15,1937, passed on September 21,1937 and raised on October 19,1937. Late RW Bro Atul Modi was one of his favourite students. He had to stand to his right when he was teaching anatomy in the Anatomy Lecture Theater, Grant Medical College. He would take great delight in pinching students very hard (leaving behind blue marks), and also another favourite student, also a mason who stood to his left, repeating the phrase “You dutty idiot, you are Mohan's son” with a pronounced nasal twang. W Bro Mohanlal Modi and he were co-students in the early days at the Grant Medical College. For him, all the ladies were ranisahibas and all the men were raosahibs. In fairness and with great deference to him, he was a genius in the field of anatomy. He has created an anatomy museum which visitors from all over the world came to see and praise. In this museum he had painted cadaveric bones, marking out the attachments of the various muscles of the human body. Joints were well delineated. He had cut sections of the various parts of the human body, mounted them in glass cases filled with formalin, for the students to study from. With this, he had written notes with diagrams, to assist the students to study each specimen. The human skull consists of many large and small bones. He had managed to separate these bones in such a manner that they did not break and the set of human skull bones he possessed was the best in the world. A brilliant teacher he then became professor of anatomy in Gujarat and the last we know of him, he was translating our textbook of anatomy in the Gujarati language. As a freemason he was the first Asst. Secretary of Lodge Reginald Spence No.5514 EC and then Almoner. Pressure of work forced him to resign on December 19,1944 after which he was shortly called to the Grand Lodge Above.
W. Bro. Abdulla Hirjee Virji was 42 years old when he became a mason. Living at Tulsi Mahal, Gowalia Tank Road, Bombay he was a share and stock broker. He joined Lodge Reginald Spence No.5514 EC on July 20,1937. He was a member of Lodge Royal Sussex No.501 EC (Shanghai). He was Organist; J.D; S.D; Secretary; Chaplin; J.W. and S.W. in that order. He assumed charge of the lodge on November 18,1947. The following year he was IPM. He was called to the Grand Lodge Above on December 31,1957.
Bro. Nadurshaw Aderji Shroff, a textile engineer, joined freemasonry on January 28,1907. Passed on March 25, 1907, he was raised on June 27,1907. He was Steward and Joint Steward of our lodge and was elected an honorary member on February 20, 1951. He was a member of Lodge Cyrus No.1359 EC. He resigned on January 16,1951. He was called to the Grand Lodge Above on June 16,1969.
